Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Salve Regina provides a solid foundation in the principles of human behavior. Through coursework and fieldwork, students expand their knowledge of human behavior and mental processes and develop their abilities to think clearly and critically.

Because of the intimate nature of our department and the accessibility of our dedicated faculty, we take a student-centered approach to instruction and provide unique opportunities for undergraduates to conduct independent research with professors. Students not only learn about the research process firsthand, they often present their results before professional psychology audiences regionally and nationally.

Through involvement in our extracurricular activities - the Psychology Club and Psi Chi, our national honor society chapter - students welcome guest speakers, gain valuable career advice and participate in psychology-related community service projects.

Our graduates possess the research and statistical skills and the insight into human behavior sought after by employers in virtually any profession. Majors have gone on to prestigious graduate schools as well as fulfilling careers in such fields as mental health, human services, education, business and sales.

Under our newest program, undergraduates who take a required set of classes and perform 1,000 hours of supervised independent fieldwork may sit for the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts exam upon graduation.
